After the joyful reminder of this classic hit by The Clash, what we’re really talking about is spousal separations. In the 28 years we have been in business we have dealt with hundreds of divorce situations. We find it best for our clients to call us as soon as possible to take the stress of the financial void you are in off your shoulders.

One of the bigger concerns in spousal separations surrounds the matrimonial home, often leading us to discuss two common scenarios:

  1. If one person is wanting to buy the other out of the matrimonial home (i.e. to keep children in place)
  2. If that is not possible, what will happen if/when the home is sold and what each party can afford.

We find this conversation gets the ball rolling faster and in a positive direction. We discuss the steps needed to complete the separation and what you need in place for financing to proceed in either direction.

The key is to make the process as painless as possible and if children are involved, an amicable separation is priority as you will be their parents for many years to come.

Should you stay or should you go, now?  It’s always good to get checked out here at the Personal Mortgage Group before deciding to play some Combat Rock.
